Reclaimed stone, a subdued color palette and native planting and building materials help create a hidden sanctuary for this historic home in downtown Ipswich. A gateway of white lilacs welcome visitors to a non-traditional side entrance and lead them up a cobblestone and brick walkway to an inviting, bright green door. A screen wall hides unsightly utilities as guests proceed down the reclaimed granite stepper walkway and into the hidden rear courtyard. A rustic cedar pergola echoes the semi-circular, brick and cobblestone patio, large enough to entertain. Reclaimed granite slabs provide access to an existing shed. A focal Japanese Maple completes this shade garden that glows in shades of white and silver.
