Accessibility was at the center of this renovation project in Lowell, MA. Located within a dense, urban area, Catholic Charities wished to convert one of their office buildings into a food pantry. Decking was expanded to encircle ¾ of the building, in order to provide employees a place to enjoy their lunch and visitors an accessible ramp to a side door. Parking and service areas were relocated to the rear of the building while the front was re-vegetated with lawn and raised planters, helping to soften the face of the building and reclaim valuable street parking for the City.
