This Plum Island beach house landscape was in dire need of renovation in order to provide parking, access to an existing shed and outdoor shower, and to clear out overgrowth. Due to its location on a protected dune, the design required clever placement and use of materials that would withstand harsh coastal conditions while passing strict permitting restrictions. Decking is carefully placed to allow access along existing topography, pea stone edged in cobbles denotes pedestrian access while keeping impervious area to a minimum, a new outdoor shower enclosure provides privacy and aesthetic improvements and a new, abundant planting of native grass and beach plum reduces erosion potential while adding to the aesthetic beauty of the site.
